Barbara Bickham is the Founder and President of TechGenii, Inc. For the past 10 years, TechGenii has helped various creative professionals, investors and companies creating and using digital strategies, doing business development, packaging businesses for investment, and doing technology assessments and evaluations.
Our clients have included: The Ray Charles Group, Desmond Tutu Documentary (PictureHead), Urban Sky Network (Chuck D’s VOD Channel), Enterprise Ireland, Career EntertainmentTelevision, Erie Horror Film Festival and Urban Icon.
She has 25+ years of experience in the computer software industry in strategic, management and architectural roles. She has spent the past 12 years in interactive and digital strategy, management, wireless architecture and implementation.
Before founding TechGenii, Inc., Ms. Bickham was the Director of Engineering for Thinque Systems, where she was responsible for the strategic and architectural direction for the wireless product line and new technology initiatives. Ms. Bickham has worked for RAND, Network Associates, St. Jude Medical, Xerox, and US. Robotics.
While at Network Associates, Ms. Bickham released on time the biggest product in the company’s history, Webshield for Firewalls. The president of the company came out to congratulate our team on getting the product out after 7 years of development, 4 other managers and product managers.
While at US Robotics, Ms. Bickham worked on the first small 9600 Baud Fax/9600 Baud modem which became the basis for the sporter modem line.
She is community oriented and involved on several boards and advisory boards throughout her career. She is on the Community Advisory Board for KCET Los Angeles and the Advisory Board of the MIND Institute. Ms. Bickham was a founding Board Member of the Mobile Development Association; was a Board Member for the American Women in Radio & Television, Southern California. She was an Interactive Television Alliance Executive Committee Member; Advisory Board Member for VNU’s DEMXPO 2005 and Continental Vista.
She takes part in the following industry groups: Academy of Television Arts and Sciences; Cable and Television Marketing Association; CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus and the IEEE.
Ms. Bickham was also the President of the PCNLA, an association of investors and business leaders in Los Angeles, CA.The PCNLA views presentations from two to three select companies from the various business plans and executive summaries we receive each month. Since we have a diverse group of members, we do not focus solely on one industry. Rather, we look for companies who are in the stage of rolling out a unique, preferably proven, product or idea. Our objective is to help talented entrepreneurs build lasting businesses of significant value and to share as active investors. We do this by mentoring and coaching those entrepreneurs in whose businesses we invest; we serve on their boards, provide contacts, and aid with strategic planning.
She is a graduate of the New Entrepreneur’s Program from the University of Chicago, has a Masters Degree in Computer Science from West Coast University and a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
She has been quoted on Digital Media and Business in Smartmoney.com, the Los Angeles Business Journal, and Entrepreneur Magazine. She appeared in Entrepreneur Magazines inaugural “Influencers 2008” list. (Our featured articles)
